Usage-Based Insurance Company Global Ranking (2025 edition)
Usage-Based Insurance (UBI) is transforming motor insurance by using actual driving data to price policyholders more fairly, while improving safety outcomes, claims efficiency, and customer engagement.
As UBI matures and now reaches 62 countries globally, insurers are increasingly differentiated not by whether they offer UBI, but by how effectively they design, scale, and operationalise it.
To provide clarity to the market, PTOLEMUS Consulting Group has conducted the most comprehensive benchmarking of insurance companies with telematics programmes to date – culminating in the Global Usage-Based Insurance Company Ranking (2025 edition).
Why this ranking matters
While hundreds of insurers have launched telematics or UBI initiatives, only a limited number have succeeded in turning them into scaled, customer-centric, and operationally integrated programmes.
This ranking aims to:
-
Recognise insurance companies at the forefront of the transition towards connected auto insurance
-
Highlight the most advanced and innovative UBI programmes globally
-
Provide insurers with a clear benchmark of UBI maturity and best practice
-
Identify where the market is heading, and who is setting the pace
The ranking is designed not only as recognition, but as a learning tool for the wider insurance ecosystem.

For this ranking, PTOLEMUS evaluated:
-
95 insurance companies with at least one active telematics programme
-
Across 28 countries
-
Covering North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, Latin America, and Middle East & Africa

Across both personal and commercial auto insurance lines
This makes it the most extensive global assessment of Usage-Based Insurers conducted to date.
