What is the report?

The “Autonomous driving in European transport” report highlights the importance of automation in mobility for all modes of transport land, water and air based. It calls specifically for urgent action to be taken in regard to outstanding issues in data protection, vehicle and route data use, and cyber security.

This report is a major step from the European Parliament in defining where it stands on autonomous transport. It will feed the Commission’s reflection who is currently assessing the need for legislation it this field and may adopt proposals from 2019 on. It is also food for thought for the three institutions (Commission, Parliament and Council) who are currently discussing the EU multi-annual financial framework for 2021-2027.

For the first meeting of 2019 we will revisit the most important issue discussed at the Club, the definition, access right, usage right and safety of autonomous car data.
To ensure the discussion is fruitful and balanced we will look at the issue from the regulatory, technical, risk and business angles.
